The implementation of the project “Production of butadiene and its derivatives” has begun on the territory of the special economic zone for the development of petrochemicals at the Kabatan site. The completion date is 2025. It is planned to produce five different types of products. Styrene-butadiene-styrene is a rubber that is used in road construction, the manufacture of glue, plastic. Divinyl styrene synthetic rubber is used in the tire industry. Some of these products are planned to be supplied to a tire factory in the Karaganda region. Butadiene is used for the production of synthetic rubbers. Isobutane-isobutylene fraction is intended for the production of methyl tert-butyl ether, butyl rubber, isoprene and alkylate. Methyl tert-butyl ether is an additive for increasing the octane number of gasoline.The project “Production of butadiene and its derivatives” is being implemented within the framework of the national project “Sustainable Economic Growth aimed at improving the well-being of Kazakhstanis”, approved by a government decree. The project is located on the territory of the special economic zone for the development of petrochemistry in the Republic of Kazakhstan at the Kabatan site, 43 km from the city of Atyrau. The project will create more than two thousand jobs during construction and 700 jobs during operation.
